Vegetable Commodities:
Avocado:
South Florida is harvesting in steady supplies. Quality is good. Markets are steady.
Broccoli: Maine is harvesting in steady supplies. Quality is good.
Cabbage:
Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin, Jersey and Canada are harvesting in good supplies. Quality is good. Red & savoy cabbage available in good supplies. Markets are steady.
Celery:
Michigan is harvesting in steady supplies. Naked and sleeved available in good supplies. Quality is good.
Collard Greens:
Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan and Jersey are harvesting with good supplies. Markets are steady.
Corn:
Indiana, Delaware, Canada, Ohio, Illinois and North Carolina are the new areas going. Supplies are good. Corn is grading Fancy. Tray pack is also available in steady supplies. Quality is good. Markets are weak.
Cucumbers:
Markets are weak. Ohio, Virginia, Jersey, Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee are the main areas we are pulling from. The quality is good.
Eggplant:
Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Jersey, Ohio and Michigan are harvesting supplies currently. The markets are weaker as better supplies are available. Quality is good.
Grape Tomatoes:
Loading from North Carolina, Virginia, Jersey, Tennessee and Michigan in good supplies. Markets are weaker. Golden grapes and organic grapes are available in steady supplies from Virginia.
Green Beans:
Tennessee, Michigan, Jersey, Delaware and North Carolina are harvesting beans in good supplies. Current markets are steady. Quality is good. Wax, poles, Kentucky and half runners available in fair supplies.
Green Bell Peppers:
Markets are starting to come off as supplies are increasing. Indiana, Virginia, Jersey, Michigan and Tennessee are the main areas harvesting currently harvesting. Quality has been good. Ohio expected to start next week.
Green Onion:
Michigan a Illinois, Ohio and New Jersey are harvesting with steady supply and quality. Markets are steady.
Hard Squash:
Markets are steady on acorn, butternut and spaghetti. Lighter supplies are available on buttercup. Quality is good on all items. Michigan and Jersey are the main areas harvesting.
Heirloom Tomatoes (Ugly Tomatoes):
Eastern Growing Area: Supplies are light. Quality is good. Markets are strong.
Peppers:
Currently loading hot peppers from North Carolina, Michigan, Jersey, and Virginia. All areas are harvesting in steady supplies. Quality is good.
Leaf Items-Green Leaf-Boston-Romaine:
New Jersey, Michigan and Ohio are harvesting in steady supplies. Illinois has finished. Quality is good.
Iceberg Lettuce: New Jersey is harvesting in fair supplies. Quality is good.
Mustard Greens:
Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and New Jersey are harvesting in moderate supplies.
Radishes:
Ohio, Michigan, Illinois and Jersey are harvesting good supplies. Markets are steady. Bunch radish is also available in good supplies.
Roma Tomatoes:
Tennessee, North Carolina, Illinois, Virginia, Michigan, Jersey and South Carolina are harvesting in better supplies. Markets are weaker Current quality is good.
Sweet Onion:
Vidalia are available in light supplies. Markets are firm. The quality ranges from fair to good. Most shippers have finished already for the season.
Sweet Potatoes:
Mississippi and North Carolina continue to ship with fair supplies. Quality is good. Markets are firm. Louisiana will start back in August.
Tomatoes:
Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan and Jersey are harvesting in better supplies on all sizes. The overall quality has been good. Markets are weaker.
Turnip Greens:
Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Jersey are harvesting in steady supplies. Pricing is steady. Quality is good.
Yellow Squash: Supplies and markets are steady. Quality ranges from fair to good.
Zucchini:
Supplies and markets are steady. Quality is good. Virginia, Jersey, Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky are currently harvesting supplies.
Fruit Commodities:
Apples:
New York is packing Red Delicious, Gold Delicious, Romes, Cortland’s, Jonamacs, Fuji’s, McIntosh, Empires, Pink Lady, and Braeburn. Michigan has finished with reds and romes. Jonathans Macs and Empires expected to finish the last week of July. The overall quality has been good from all areas. Expecting new crop Paula Reds and Early Golds will start sometime the week of August 9 to August 12 and we now feel as though the loss of fruit will not be as severe as first thought because of the late freeze this spring when much of the fruit was in bloom and early stages. You can expect larger fruit this year also.
Grapefruit:
Florida has finished.
Limes:
Guatemala and Mexico are harvesting in steady supplies. Quality and sizing has been good.
Oranges:
Finished for the season.
Papaya:
Solo papaya’s volume is down and markets are strong. Maradol supplies remain in light supplies from Belize & Guatemala. Overall quality is fair to good.
Peaches: Georgia, Illinois, Jersey and South Carolina are harvesting in good supplies on all sizes. Markets are weak. Quality is good.
Grapes:
Concord Grapes expected to start in two weeks from Arkansas.
Tangerines:
Finished for the season.
Athena Melons:
Available in light supplies. Sizing is very good. Markets are strong. Quality is fair to good.
Variety Melons:
Personal seedless are available in steady supplies. Quality is good.
Watermelon:
Markets are strong. Quality is good. Expect better supplies next week. Rain in the growing areas on a daily basis is the main reason for the light supplies this week.
Strawberries: Finished for the season.
