Frequently Asked Questions
- Is exclusivity offered on items listed in the general pantry?
Yes. Exclusivity is provided for Platinum sponsors (six). Platinum level sponsors are also ensured that their product must be used as one of the ingredients in final competition (starter, main course or dessert).
- How does the gold and silver sponsorships differ from the platinum level sponsorships.
All students applying doe the scholarship are instructed to use all platinum, gold and silver sponsors products when developing their first course, main course and dessert recipes. In addition the platinum sponsors products must be featured items in the cook off competition at Southern Exposure 2009.
- How will the competition work and who will do the judging?
Student applicants are to submit their three recipes (first course, main course and dessert) to the R.E.C.I.P.E. Committee by November 15, 2008. The students will be given the general pantry items which will include all silver, gold and platinum sponsors’ products. These recipes will be judged and the committee will determine the winners who will compete at Southern Exposure 2009.
Judging at the final competition will be by American Culinary Federation approved judges.
- The product I grow/ship does not appear in the desired general pantry list. Can my product be included?
Please contact us for availability of additional pantry items at info@seproducecouncil.com or by calling (813) 234-9505.
- As a silver, gold or platinum sponsor will I have access to the recipes that are submitted for the competition?
Yes. All recipes submitted become the property of the Southeast Produce Council and will be available for all silver, gold and platinum sponsors to use.
- Two varieties of mushrooms are listed as being needed in the general pantry. I am a mushroom grower and I sign up for a gold sponsorship. What happens if another mushroom grower decides to be a gold sponsor as well?
In cases such as this we would contact the company who was the first to sign up as the mushroom sponsor and offer them exclusivity at the platinum level. If they choose not to take the platinum level sponsorship then we would have two mushroom growers representing two different varieties as gold sponsors.
- I think this is a great program for culinary students who are pursuing their education. I am not interested in a major sponsorship but would like to make a donation to help in providing these scholarships. How can I do this?
We offer the bronze sponsorship ($1000.00) level (see sponsorship section) and you can also make a donation for another amount. Please make your check payable to the Southeast Produce Council and place R.E.C.I.P.E. scholarship in the memo section on your check.
