The 2009 R.E.C.I.P.E. Culinary Student Scholarship Program has been postponed.
Due to the limited number of student applications we received and the total number of recipes submitted we have decided to postpone the program until further notice. We were expecting at least fifty or more student applications for this program. We received less than twenty. Of those twenty less than fifteen of the applicants submitted recipes that met the guidelines of the competition.
Several of our members were sponsors of this program and had committed several thousand dollars to support it. One of the sponsorship benefits for our sponsors was to be able to use the submitted recipes in their marketing materials, for use on their website, point of sale materials, .etc.
Having received less than fifteen qualified applications the RECIPE Committee felt that this would not be a "good spend" for our sponsors.
We would like to offer our sincere thanks to those culinary students who submitted their applications correctly for the RECIPE program. We do plan to take a look at what we can do to gain more participation from young culinarians and we hope to have the RECIPE competition at a later date. Please keep the recipes you submitted. We will notify you on any further developments.
